The farmers should not get disheartened due to drought as it
is a natural calamity. They should fight against it with confidence and to help
them surmount the crisis, social, political, economic, and techno experts
should join hands," said former Minister for sports and youth affairs and
MLC Diliprao Deshmukh.
Speaking further, Deshmukh said that all the farmers who are
members of sugar factories from Manjra group will be encouraged to cultivate
sugarcane with the help of modern drip and sprinkle irrigation. In the coming
years, we intend to make the sugarcane cultivation cent percent on drip. Due to
lack of insufficient rainfall, we could not witness the results of gutter
straightening scheme (nala saralikaran yojna). If the results of this project
are favorable, we will think of furthering this project in the next five years.
It's high time that farmers adopt high tech farming methods to improve their
productivity"
"Its really an agonising situation, on the one hand
there is plenty of production of food grains and on other hand the farmers are
not able to reap profit out of it. It's high time that agri products are paid
well," he said. Collector Pandurang Pole said, "We cannot afford to
neglect agriculture in India because it's still the backbone of our economy.
The farmers should be adept in high tech farming which is less water fed. The
government has been encouraging farmers to take up high tech farming." The
Agri Techno Fest will witness expert guidance on fodder management on drought,
crop protection techniques, vegetable cultivation, water management for
pomegranate, etc.
