The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee who is on a two day
visit to Latur arrived in the city today evening through a special aeroplane of
Air Force. Governor of Maharashtra, K. Sankarnarayanan, guardian minister of
Latur, Satej Patil, Governor of Punjab, Shivraj Patil Chakurkar, mayor Smita
Khanapure welcomed him with bouquets.
Additional
revenue commissioner of Aurangabad region, Gokul Maware, incharge collector,
B.L.Giri, Sandeep Bishnoi, SP B.G.Gaikar and others were present. The president
and other dignitaries headed towards the government guest house after this
reception programme. The president will attend the valedictory ceremony of
Dayanand Education Society tomorrow (1 June) at 10:30 am. The valedictory programme
will be attended by prominent and eminent dignitaries namely Governor K.
Shankar narayanan, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chauhan, Governor of Punjab
Shivraj Patil, School education minister Rajendra Darda, minister for higher
and technical education Rajesh Tope, guardian minister
Satej
Patil, MLC Diliprao Deshmukh, MLA Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh and others. The
glittering vale-dictory ceremony would take place on the play ground of the
society where a huge pandal has been erected. As many as four gates have been
made for the entry. The gate number 5 is exclusively for the entry of VIPs,
gate number 6 for the entry of journalists and special invitees, gate number 7
for the students, while gate number 8 for the general invitees. The president

secretary Ramesh Biyani, and convener of valedictory programme Arvind Sonwane
have appealed to the public not to carry cell phones, carry bags, cameras or
any other electronic gadgets during the programme. The people have been advised
to carry their Identity cards. Entry passes have been already distributed to
all the invitees.
